3 FUNCTIONALITY

The telediagnostic functions of the «CE-Telediag» software are carried out via a modem connection.

The communication to the target system is implemented with TCP/IP via a point-to-point protocol

"PPP”.

On the programming PC you use the «PC-Telediag» software to configure the connection parameters

of the programming PC and the desired modem connection with the connection parameters of the

target system. On the target system you configure and activate the «CE-Telediag» software.

If you start the connection establishment with the «PC-Telediag» software, the modem of the

programming PC dials into the target system. After successful connection establishment the basic

connection data of the programming PC is transmitted to the target system and the connection is then

closed. The target system then dials into the programming PC. A callback takes place and the

programming PC obtains an "incoming connection”. The target system can then be addressed via its

IP address.

All functions such as download, debugging, ftp server and remote server/client are then available.

3.2 NOTES ON OPERATING WITH MODEMS

Always test first of all the connection establishment of the modem connection with a

modem terminal.

Modems are differently configured, depending on modem type and modem

manufacturer. This can lead to problems in the connection establishment. Usually

the documentation for the configuration is supplied with the modems. If necessary,

modems configurations can be customised by using a modem terminal (e.g.

Hyperterminal) and the Hayes commands (AT, AT&…).
